EXPLORING THE INCENTIVE TOOLS AS AN INSTRUMENTS FOR ENHANCING THE EFFICIENCY OF LIBRARIANS IN FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF WUKARI ACADEMIC LIBRARY, TARABA STATE
Abstract
This research was to exploring the incentive tools as an instruments for enhancing the efficiency of librarians in federal university of wukari academic library, Taraba state. Four objectives were raised to investigate the various types of incentives in the federal university wkari academic library, to examine the objective of incentive to the librarians in federal university of wukari academic library, Taraba state, to investigate the incentives package available to librarians in federal university of wukari academic library Taraba state, to examine the relationship between the librarians and their boss in federal university wukari academic library Taraba state and to investigate the word incentive from the librarians in federal university of wukari academic library Taraba state. Using a survey research design and random sampling method, with a well-structured questionnaire data were gathered from 40 respondents comprising of all the librarians that constituted sample for the study. The research reveals that lack of incentive tools causes hindrance to the performance of librarians in the federal university wukari academic library Taraba state, lack of good relationship between the boss and librarians affect his/ her performance and it was also discovered that lack of self-esteem, bonus, loan, commendation and prompt payment of salary all these affects librarian’s efficiency in federal university of wukari academic library. It was recommended that the library management of federal university wukari academic library should employ incentives packages so that it will enhancing efficiency of librarians in the library, the library management (boss) should establish good relationship with librarians it will enhance efficient and performance in the federal university of wukari academic library, Taraba state, the library management (boss) should adopt incentive like bonus, loan, commendation and prompt payment of salary all these will enhance efficiency among the librarian’s in federal university of wukari academic library and the management (boss) should create various incentive within the federal university wukari academic library for librarians it will increase efficiency.
