Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the breast cancer prevalence among patients at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna State, Nigeria, who were either members of the Nigerian army or civilians. Information was gathered from hospital patients' medical records between 2017 and 2021. The findings indicated that, with a prevalence rate of 13.8% among civilian patients and 2.4% among Nigerian army patients who visited the hospital, breast cancer was the most common cancer. Compared to military personnel, the general prevalence of breast cancer was greater among civilians. According to the study's findings, breast cancer affects both Nigerian army and civilian patients, raising serious concerns about public health. More research is needed to determine the disease's risk factors in this demographic.
