Abstract

This study examines the impact of poverty on armed banditry in some selected local government areas of Sokoto state. Using panel data of seven local government areas on pooled mean group model; the outcome of the study revealed that poverty level enhances armed banditry activities in the state. The study recommends poverty alleviation schemes, increase security expenditures and enhances economic activities to boot more revenue for the state and thus reduce the level poverty and armed banditry.
