This research investigated the dynamics of conflict among couples in Africa, with a specific emphasis on Nigeria, and its broader societal implications. The study delved into African family structures, drawing on historical traditions to analyze familial systems within the African context. Additionally, it explored the processes involved in African marriages prior to family formation, particularly referencing the Zulu practices in South Africa. The research examined the methods of partner selection within African culture and the impact of the couple families of origin on their newly established families. It also meticulously analyzed gender roles within the African context. Furthermore, the study identified various challenges faced by marriages in Nigeria and their repercussions on society as a whole. The research proposed strategies for addressing marital conflicts among couples. Utilizing secondary data sources, the study relied on internet resources to gather relevant books, journals, and other materials, all of which were duly acknowledged. The findings indicated that, given the significance of religion in the lives of individuals, faith-based organizations should be empowered to take on more proactive roles in conflict resolution. This can be achieved through the provision of targeted training for key personnel, including marriage counselors.
