PERCEPTION OF SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS ON SCHOOL ATTITUDE IN CURBING BULLYING BEHAVIOR AMONG SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN FCT, ABUJA

The study assessed the perception of secondary school students on school attitude in curbing bullying behavior among secondary school students in FCT, Abuja. It adopted Descriptive design, population covers 60,271 secondary school students in FCT, Abuja. The sample size of 290 respondents was purposively selected across two randomly selected Area Councils. The researcher adapted questionnaire “school attitude on bullying behavior Questionnaire” (SABBQ), research question was analyzed using descriptive statistics, while analysis of Variance (ANOVA) statistical tool and t-test was used to test the three formulated hypotheses. The findings of the study revealed that there was significance difference in the perception of students on school attitude in curbing bullying behavior among the secondary school students in FCT, Abuja based on age, there was no significance difference in the perception of male and female secondary school students on school attitude in curbing bullying behavior among the secondary school students and there was a significance difference in the perception of private and public secondary school students on school attitude in curbing bulling behavior among the secondary school students in FCT, Abuja. The study recommended among others that there is need for schools to put in place new strategies of curbing bullying behavior give more attention to the junior students in secondary schools and ensure that both private and public secondary schools do the needful in curbing bullying behaviors among the secondary school students in FCT, Abuja.
