The study investigated predicting factors influencing health education intervention and hostel sanitation practice among undergraduates in tertiary institutions in Rivers State. The study adopted correlational research design. The study was guided by three research questions and three null hypotheses. The population of the study comprised 28,000 undergraduate students. The sample size used for the study was 394 undergraduate students. Simple random sampling technique was used for the study. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire, titled: “Health Education Intervention and Hostel Sanitation Practice Questionnaire (HEIHSPQ)”. The reliability of the instrument was determined through test re-test reliability method which yielded a reliability index of r=0.81. Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) used to answer the research questions and test the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The study revealed that there was a high positive relationship between self-efficacy, health outcome, motivation and hostel sanitation practice among undergraduates in tertiary institutions in Rivers State. It further revealed that there was significant relationship between self-efficacy, health outcome, motivation and hostel sanitation practice among undergraduates in tertiary institutions in Rivers State. It was recommended among others that; management of tertiary institutions in the state should derive means of creating awareness among undergraduate students on important of sanitation practice through public announcement and social media platform to enhance students’ self-efficacy towards hostel sanitation practice.
