ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT, CHALLENGES AND PREDICTIONS

A STUDY OF ESAN NORTH EAST LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA, EDO STATE

Abstract

The economic situation of Nigeria today is not reassuring. A major reason for this is because a lot of people are depending on white collars job, neglecting their God-given talent and capabilities. This project work discusses the issues entrepreneurship development; its problems and prospects. In this research work, we will discuss the reason why many people find it difficult to start their own business, and what should be done to promote entrepreneurship development. Data were gathered through questionnaire administered on respondents which were analyzed with simple percentage. Results showed that entrepreneurs found it difficult to secure loans from banks and other financial institutions and also lack of government assistance and inadequate infrastructure was one of the major problems militating against the entrepreneur. We recommended that loan should be given to small-scale business owners and the owners of the business should make sure that the loan secured is used judiciously.
