This study investigated podcast terminology misconceptions among social media users using the data gathered on social network. The Google search engine was the research instrument adopted for this enquiry as it allowed random search for data relevant to this study. The data search procedure involved the use of inclusion and exclusion criteria to discover already existing podcast misconceptions in the social media space in the light of literature scarcity addressing this issue. However, this study utilised secondary data sources to tap existing and past podcast misconceptions online. Besides, this research adopted quantitative methodology and the data gathered were analysed using descriptive statistics to calculate the data frequency and sum total of data occurrence. This study findings showed that podcast terminology is grossly misconceived on the social media since the social network is a platform for freedom of expression, which permitted the existence of misconceived podcast discourse that requires imminent action from educational technology practitioners. The study discovered that social media users and companies are less concerned about the correctness of podcast terminology based on the gross misrepresentation of podcast terminology with ordinary video and audio terms. Podcast misconception limits the potentials of podcasts in reality and misrepresent the meaning of this technology to a large audience.
