Abstract

This paper discusses the roles of computer applications in campus planning, as campus planning involves the preparation, updating, monitoring and implementation of a campus master plan to guide the campus growth and development. The paper starts by reviewing of some computer applications used in planning, and follows by an overview of campus planning (including its planning stages and benefits). Then an attempt is made to identify the roles of computer applications in campus planning. Data for the study was collected through literature review. The study concludes that computer applications play very vital roles in campus planning which contributes in bringing up highly efficient campuses. It is therefore apt and scholastically lucid to note that computer applications are positive actors in campus planning and implementation. Finally, ways in which Urban public participation can be enhance via technologies are recommended such as: establishing ongoing participatory processes, empowering the people's engagement, internet access etc.
