Abstract

Despite the efforts of relevant stake holders in tackling social problems in Gombe metropolis, still there are vices which continue to emerge in recent time and pose great threat in Gombe metropolis. Social problems such as: political thuggery, drug abuse, blockage of road during religious occasions, and many others are among the problems which are highly challenging to Gombe metropolis. Different committees were constituted by relevant authorities and made their efforts in bid of tackling such problems but to no avail. The research aims to address social problems prevalent in Gombe by advocating the Utilization of Shari’ah principles. Overall objectives of the research endeavors to elucidate how adherence to Shari’ah Objectives can address social challenges and foster positive change in Gombe.The methodology that was employed in this from both primary and secondary sources were consulted, oral interview and personal observation were also administered. The study explores the knowledge of Maqasid and its roles in curbing the menace which continue to pose threats to humanity in Gombe metropolis. The study concludes that Islamic law has main objectives which if understood and applied, Gombe metropolis will be free from all vices.
