IMPACT OF PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL ON EMPLOYEES PRODUCTIVITY AMONG COMMERCIAL BANKS IN MINNA METROPOLIS

Employees productivity is a vital instrument of any organizational success. Firms in financial industry are faced with growth and sustainability objectives which are influenced by employee’s productivity. This study explores the impact of performance appraisal variables like reward, training, and involvement on employee’s productivity. A survey of 382 employees of commercial banks in Minna metropolis was analysed using multiple linear regression analysis. The result shows a positive relationship between performance appraisals and employee’s productivity, with training and reward significantly impacting employee’s productivity. Descriptive statistics reveal that 66.2% of the respondents were male, with an average age of less than 30, The regression model (R = 0.366, R² = 0.181, F = 7.575, p = 0.000) underscores the importance of performance appraisals. The study recommends that commercial banks ensure training that encourages confidence, discipline, and sustained compensation policies that bridge the gap between the payrolls of employees which can boost the willingness of employees to perform the job in the best possible manner.
